Conceição Church - IMA

Dating back to 1728, the Conceição Church replaced the old Conceição Convent, whose building is now occupied by the Monsenhor Airosa Institute (IMA). In Baroque style, it stands out for its rich decoration: a high altarpiece, gilded panels, a pulpit, an organ restored in the 20th century, tile panels with Marian themes and six oil paintings in the chancel, where Monsignor Ferreira Airosa's tomb is located.

On the left side of the nave, there is also an altar dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, built by the founder of the Institute as a sign of gratitude. The church is only open to the public on December 8th and during the Easter Triduum, making it one of the least known temples in the city.
