At the top 220m of Avenida da Liberdade, 20 long flowerbeds in 2 rows of 10 form a flower garden that stands out in Braga's historic center. Starting from the adjoining Praça da República fountain, this garden is a graceful exaltation of color and establishes the beginning of the continuity of natural elements that continue down the avenue. This chain is continued by the two rows of trees - elm trees (Ulmus minor) - almost to Parque da Ponte, which, 1,000m further on, is distinguished by the green patch of plane trees, after which rises Monte do Picoto, with its native forest.

The Avenida da Liberdade garden is perhaps one of the places where the symbiosis between urban and nature is best and most harmoniously demonstrated, with this direct and visible link between Braga's most historic and central area and the natural environment that the city preserves. The flowerbeds are snaked through the paving slabs and there are benches along the central path. In front of the Theatro Circo, the beds are a little further apart, forming a small square. Generally, the garden has two annual plantings, sometimes with winter flowers and sometimes with summer flowers.
