Most of this building was rebuilt at the end of the 18th century, a project designed by the architect Carlos Amarante.

It is an ex-libris of the work of this remarkable architect and an example of the Baroque religious style. Due to its historical, religious and architectural interest, it has been a National Monument since 2016.
