Merelim São Paio River Beach

Located downstream from all the other beaches in the municipality, it offers magnificent scenery, with the Prado Bridge in the background, which stands out for the beauty of its surroundings.
The picnic area, integrated into the beach area, is ideal for picnics (taking advantage of the shade provided by the trees). The area by the water, which is sunnier, is ideal for sunbathing.
This beach is part of the Cávado ecovia, with pedestrian and cycle paths with direct access to the water. Like the other river beaches, there is access to a bar, toilets, showers, a first aid station and an amphibious chair.

Volunteers can be requested at least 48 to 72 hours in advance (72 hours for weekends). The wooden walkways facilitate access to the water and the riverbed is shallow and ideal for children.
It is located 15 minutes from the historic center of Braga, and is served by TUB lines 02 and 949 (with a stop about 400 meters from the beach).
It was awarded the Blue Flag in 2023 and 2024 and the Accessible Beach for All Award in 2014.

It will be guarded by lifeguards between 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. during the 2025 bathing season, which runs from June 14 to September 14.
