The store
Campo das Hortas is where you'll find the Cruz Sobral Restaurant, a benchmark of traditional Braga cuisine. The secret of the roast lamb and beef or the Braga-style codfish lies in the wood-burning stove, where everything is slowly cooked under the guidance of chef Palmira Sobral. But tradition is also present in the space that welcomes us, where the niches built into the thick stone walls, the linen notes and the old photographs on the walls are part of a cozy atmosphere.
History
It was in 1926 that António Alves Cruz and Aurora da Rocha Cruz opened their business in Praça Conde São Joaquim, now Campo das Hortas. It all started with a tavern and lodging service, becoming a Casa de Pasto in 1950, with the granting of a license. The 1970s saw the beginning of a new phase for Casa Cruz, as the building was given a new exterior and interior image, with improved conditions that enabled the establishment to obtain a restaurant license. In the meantime, the management changes to the founder's daughter, Palmira Sobral and her husband, who take over the fate of the new Cruz Sobral Restaurant. In 1990, the building was again renovated, while maintaining the tradition of Minho dishes.
