Located on Rua do Souto, one of the oldest and noblest streets in the city of Braga, Chapelaria Machado is a benchmark in the traditional hat trade.
Founded in 1932 by António Júnior Machado, Chapelaria Machado has remained in the family since its foundation.
History
Founded in 1932 by António Júnior Machado, Chapelaria Machado was born at a time when Braga had a rich tradition in the production of hats and where a large part of the population of Braga worked.
Two of the most prominent factories were "Fábrica Taxa" and "A Industrial", located on Rua D. Pedro V and Rua do Taxa, which played a very important role in the economic and social development of the city during the 19th century.
António Júnior Machado, wanting to set up on his own, founded Chapelaria Machado, a family business specializing in men's items. Over the generations it has remained in the family and is currently in the hands of Camila Machado, the founder's granddaughter, with the support of her mother and a cousin. The business has adapted to new times, but has not lost its identity, continuing to sell the same articles, offering a wide variety of products, including hats, shoes and umbrellas, combining tradition and quality.
