The store
Located in Largo Barão de São Martinho, 'A Brasileira' is considered to be the oldest and most emblematic café in the city, and a meeting point for locals and national and foreign tourists. The 'café de saco' and the 'mazagran de café' are two of its specialties.

History
Founded on March 17, 1907, by Adolpho de Azevedo, a businessman from Porto and vice-consul of Brazil in Braga, it was frequented by Braga's elite, who were required to wear a tie to enter. At the time, 'A Brasileira' sold coffee from Brazil and bottled wines from the Douro.
In 1937, 'A Brasileira' was acquired by Mário Joaquim de Queirós, who kept it going for four decades. In 1997, the café was handed over to Joaquim Domingos Godinho. In 2004, it passed to Armindo Pinheiro and his sons, the current managers.
In 2008/2009 'A Brasileira' underwent restoration and expansion work, gaining two new rooms on the second floor of the building.
The building stands out for its classic architecture, with a façade covered in traditional Portuguese tiles, and the interior preserves the elegance of past eras.
