The store
Located at 131 Rua de São Marcos, against the backdrop of the majestic and emblematic churches of Santa Cruz and São Marcos, Favorita is one of the city's oldest establishments and is known for its delicacies, including homemade salted snacks.
History
The old sign at the entrance advertises its foundation: "Here was born in 1935 the national salty snack house also known as A Favorita". Its 90 years of existence are clearly visible in the architecture and interior decoration, with a space that preserves the characteristics of the 60s and 70s of the last century.
A landmark in the city, it now has João Ferreira, a Bracaran who grew up in Rua de São Marcos, who, preserving the essence of what it has always been, has brought Favorita back to life, keeping this historic house alive in the memories of the people of Braga. At 9 a.m., the homemade snacks of 'unrivaled manufacture' arrive, adorning the old wooden shelves at all hours. There are days when the terrace beckons us for a rissol and a glass of wine, others when the urge calls for a beer at the counter to take stories home. The house specialty is rissoles and codfish cakes.
