Located in the heart of the city, in the emblematic building known as the Arcada, Café Astória is a meeting point for the people of Braga and has marked generations, captivating with its high quality and gastronomic offer.
History
On July 15, 1928, the newspaper Diário do Minho reported on the opening of the Astória: "The Astória Café and Restaurant presented itself as a chic establishment, recommended to the most demanding, who seek comfort as a justification for spending their money". This space enchanted the people of Braga for the quality of its facilities, which stood out for the refinement and beauty of the decoration, the crystal art of the mirrors, the colored marble and also for its restaurant services, coffee lounge and billiards room.
In 1932, with Adolfo de Azevedo already in charge of managing the Astória, the Correio do Minho newspaper of April 5, 1932, reported on the sale of the café d'Brasileira do Porto in the establishment. A unique architectural space, presented in several international itineraries as an image of Braga, known for having been a café where soccer gatherings were frequent.
After its closure, the doors reopened, with Francisco Miguel Mesquita Machado in charge of the space, but it has a new management team, made up of Nuno Oliveira, who has added a new concept, offering a unique experience spread over three floors, each with different characteristics and exquisite and diverse cuisine, including typical dishes of traditional Portuguese cuisine combined with contemporary touches, where you can enjoy dishes such as "bacalhau à Braga", "arroz de feijão" and "bife à mordomo".
