History
One of the oldest stores in the city of Braga, Casa Bouças was founded in 1905 by Manuel Bouças and Manuel Esteves, then located in the old coal depot on Rua dos Capelistas, a few meters from the demolition work on Braga Castle.
In the 1950s, Manuel Bouças' son founded the company Bouças, Morais & Fernandes, with Miguel Morais and Fernandes, an accountant, giving up their shares. In 1990, Miguel Morais acquired the shares of the other partners, namely the majority share given by the Bouças family heiress, Dona Helena. Mr. Morais kept the house open until 2012, when, at the age of 91, he sold the shares to the current owners, Domingos and Isabel.
A century-old house and a reference point in the city, Casa Bouças currently sells hardware, kitchen utensils and supplies various types of equipment for professional bricklayers, mechanics and electricians, as well as materials and tools for construction and agriculture.
