The store
Located at number 1 of Largo de São João do Souto, Frigideiras do Cantinho is considered one of the oldest pastry shops in the city of Braga and owes its name to the specialty for which it is still known today: frying pans.
Today, it is part of the city's archaeological route due to the discovery of structures that correspond to a dwelling from the Roman period.

History
In 1997, during a refurbishment of the space, discoveries were made in the basement of the building which have been preserved and musealized, and can be seen through a glass structure on the floor of the interior of the pastry shop, forming part of the city's archaeological route. In 2000, as part of the celebrations for the city's Bimillenary, 'Frigideiras do Cantinho' launched the "Roman cake", exclusive to the house Currently run by Pereira & Rocha, under the direction of Fernando Areias.
The large puff pastry cakes with a handmade minced meat filling gave their name to the establishment that opened its doors in 1796. Plain, mixed or with garnish, the 'frigideiras' were described as "appetizing" by Júlio Dinis and Camilo Castelo Branco, and are still wrapped in the house paper and tied with cotton thread.
In 1997, the refurbishment of the space uncovered the ruins of a Roman domus. The remains have been preserved and musealized, and can be seen through the glass floor of the pastry shop.
Back in 2000, as part of the city's Bimillenary, 'Frigideiras do Cantinho' launched the "Roman cake", exclusive to the house and inspired by ancient recipes from Marco Gavius Apício, a gastronome from the 1st century AD.
