Image Encounters

Encontros da Imagem has been running for over thirty editions. They were born out of a non-profit association with the aim of promoting art in all its splendor. It is an International Photography and Visual Arts Festival with an eclectic program that celebrates classic and contemporary photography and the visual arts in general.
Held annually in September, "Encontros da Imagem" is already considered the biggest photography event in our country, at a time when photography is gaining inescapable power in society, with millions of images being shared in real time of events happening around the world.

The Image Museum, the Tibães Monastery, Casa dos Crivos and the Rectory of the University of Minho are some of the venues hosting these meetings, which offer the city of Braga new visions of reality and society in general, seen through the lenses of photographers from different parts of the world.
