In Alto da Cividade there are the remains of a thermal bath complex and a Roman theater, two public buildings that reveal the importance of this area of ancient Bracara Augusta as a civic and monumental center.
The thermal complex, built at the beginning of the 2nd century AD, included cold, tepid and hot bathing rooms, hypocaust heating systems and a large outdoor palaestra. It was used and remodeled until the end of the 4th century, reflecting the leisure, hygiene and socializing habits of Roman society.
The Roman Theater, although partially excavated, was located on the natural slope of the hillside, next to the baths. Built at the same time as the baths, it was used essentially for dramatic performances and civic ceremonies, reinforcing the city's urban prestige and local adherence to Rome's cultural values.
The visit is complemented by information panels and an interpretive video.
