See more +The Convent, College and Basilica of the Congregants is considered André Soares' "most emotional" work of architecture. The church was built in the 16th century, but only completed in the 20th century. This Baroque/Rococo style monument surrounds the statues of St. Philip of Néri and St. Martin of Dume on its façade.
The Convent of the Congregants, also known as the Convent of the Congregation of São Filipe de Néri, was built by the Congregation of the Oratory, who came to the city through Canon João de Meira Carrilho. During the 18th century, the convent was enlarged with the construction of the basilica and the addition of another floor to the original building.
The Colégio dos Congregados completes this collection of Braga's religious heritage.
