Formerly a traditional market, the Carandá Market has been reconverted and returned to the city as a cultural space. With a project to requalify the structure by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, the building was constructed in 1983 and is commonly referred to as a landmark intervention in the context of Portuguese architecture in the contemporary period.

Nowadays, the Carandá Cultural Market presents exhibitions and shows, mainly focusing on music, dance and theater. Every Saturday, the Braga Organic Products Fair also takes place at the market, from 09h00 to 12h30.
