See more +Close to the center of Braga, this is one of the region's best-known beaches. It is much sought after for its extensive grassy area which allows for sunbathing, picnics, barbecues and various types of sports.
It is distinguished by its built heritage, namely a water mill used for agricultural irrigation.
It is accessible by public transport (lines 44 and 72 of the Braga Urban Transport - TUB), with a stop approximately 900 meters away. As it is also an inclusive space, between July 1 and September 1, a special service operates with a bus adapted for people with reduced mobility (stopping next to the beach parking lot). A bike rack is also available at the space.
The beach also has footpaths with direct access to the water, toilets, a bar, a picnic area, a first aid station and a floating and submersible amphibious chair. Volunteers can be called on to use the beach at least 48 to 72 hours in advance (72 hours for weekend bookings).
This beach has been awarded the Blue Flag since 2016 and the Accessible Beach for All Award since 2014. It was recently awarded the Gold Quality Beach Award 2025, an award that has been in existence for over 15 years and which distinguishes the quality of bathing water on Portuguese beaches.
It will be guarded by lifeguards between 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. during the 2025 bathing season, which runs from June 14 to September 14.
